The Studio
WildGoose Studio was purpose built for recording acoustic music. It is soundproofed to an extremely high standard and is acoustically treated to achieve excellent results from microphones.
We have plenty of good quality vocal and instrument mics from Neuman, Earthworks, CAD, Audio Technica, and AKG.
The track laying equipment, by Mackie, is 24 track all digital with complete multi-track editing capability. Mixing is done to a Soundscape system using outboard Lexicon professional reverb units and other outboard units. Mastering is also done in-house using Acuma Labs software running on the Soundscape system.
Hiring the Studio
The studio is available for hire with an engineer at a basic cost £150 per day for a 7 hour day. It can also be hired to master albums that have been recorded elsewhere. We can take a recording project all the way from track laying, through mixing and mastering, to CD artwork lay-ups and final CD pressing. Package prices can be arranged for a complete job if required.
Accommodation while Recording
Many of the projects we record take several days and during that time it may be more convenient, and more pleasant, to stay with us rather than trying to drive to the studio each day with all of the attendant frustrations and wasted time. The studio is situated in over an acre of land, which rolls down to the River Test at the bottom of the garden. The studio is adjacent to the cottage, which has 3 double bedrooms available (one with en-suite bathroom and the other two sharing a private bathroom) as well as a dedicated sitting room and small kitchen. Breakfast, lunch and a light evening meal can be provided at an agreed cost. There is a village pub only 100 yards away. The village itself is small and very pretty and has some pleasant walks close by (including the Test Way). Prices for accommodation and meals are by arrangement.
‘All in all, this is a very relaxing and pleasant place to focus on recording a demo or album.’ (quote from a client)
